process

My web design process: Design, Develop, Rank, Convert.

This web design process has six steps and four sign-offs. You always know what’s happening, what’s next and what I need from you. Nothing goes live until you approve it. And SEO is built in from step one, not bolted on after launch.

Design → Develop → Rank → Convert

6 steps

The web design process, step by step

  1. 01 Discover

    Understand the business first.

We start with a call or a free website and SEO audit. I learn who you sell to, what they search for, and what a good lead looks like. I review your current site and two or three competitors. You get a written scope with a fixed price and timeline.

Scope approved Typical time: 3–5 days

  2. 02 Design

Plan the pages, then design them.

I map every page to a keyword and a goal. Then I design the key pages: homepage, a service page and a contact page. You see real layouts with real copy, not grey boxes. Two rounds of changes are included.

Design approved Typical time: 1–2 weeks

  3. 03 Develop

    Build it properly on WordPress.

I build a custom WordPress theme, with custom plugins where needed. Clean code, mobile-first, fast by default. Multilingual sites get their own URLs and SEO setup for every language. You get a private staging link to click through as it grows.

    Typical time: 2–5 weeks

  4. 04 Rank

    Set up everything Google needs.

Titles, meta descriptions, headings, schema markup (code that helps Google understand a page), sitemap and redirects from your old URLs. I tune speed for Core Web Vitals, Google’s page experience scores. More on this in technical SEO and WordPress speed optimization.

Pre-launch check passed Typical time: 3–5 days

  5. 05 Launch

    Go live, carefully.

I move the site live, connect Google Search Console and analytics, and test every form. I watch for errors in the first 14 days. You get a short handover video and full admin access.

    Site live

  6. 06 Convert

    Measure, then improve.

After launch, I track which pages bring leads and which don’t. With SEO services or a website care plan, I keep improving pages, fixing issues and reporting monthly in plain English.

    Ongoing: monthly

What I need from you

Tick off what you already have. The more you can tick, the sooner we can start.

That’s it. I handle the rest.

why it works

Why this web design process works

  • Accountable

    One person, end to end.

The person who scopes your project designs it, builds it and does the SEO. Nothing is lost in a hand-off.

  • Built in

    SEO from the start.

Keywords shape the page plan before design begins. That’s cheaper than fixing a finished site that was never built to rank.

  • 4 approvals

    Clear sign-offs.

Four approvals, in writing. You never wonder what stage we’re at, and the scope never drifts without a quote.

Process questions

Something else? Ask me directly.

How long does the web design process take?

Most projects take 4–10 weeks from approved scope to launch. A small site sits at the short end. Sites with many pages, custom plugins, e-commerce or more than one language take longer. The biggest factor is often feedback speed. If approvals come back within 3 business days, the timeline in your scope holds.

How many design revisions are included?

Two rounds of changes on the designs are included. Most clients need fewer, because we agree the page plan and goals first. Extra rounds are fine. I’ll quote them before starting, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Can I see the site before it goes live?

Yes. From the develop step on, you get a private staging link. It’s the real site, just hidden from Google and the public. You can click through it on your phone and laptop, and leave notes as it takes shape.

What happens to my old site’s rankings?

I map every old URL to its new page and set up redirects, so search engines and visitors land in the right place. I also keep the content that already ranks, unless there’s a good reason to change it. After launch, I watch Search Console for errors and fix them fast.

Do you write the content?

I can. Copywriting is quoted separately, per page. Many clients send rough notes and I shape them into clear, keyword-aware copy. If you prefer to write it yourself, I’ll give you a page-by-page brief so it fits the design and the SEO plan.
